American Idol Season 9 Week 9 Eliminations

The contestants paid homage to songs that inspire, uplift, and motivate last week on American Idol (TV).  The Top 7 dug deep and desperately tried to pick a song that they could make relevant, that would impress the judges, and most of all connect with the voters at home.  Some contestants went with classics such as "Don't Stop" by Fleetwood Mac, while others stepped out of the box and did less commercial songs like The Impressions' "People Get Ready."

Inspiration was felt throughout the Kodak Theater as the Top 7 hopefuls poured their hearts out on stage for the world.  As always, the favorites such as Crystal Bowersox came out on top as she tearfully sang her last note as her proud father cheered her on.  When she finished, Kara DioGuardi shouted, "You just schooled all those contestants," and Simon Cowell chirped in stating, "Now that was inspirational!"

It's wasn't all warm fuzzies on the Idol stage last week.  Fan favorite Tim Urban did not fare as Bowersox; just ask Randy Jackson!  Dawg stated, "It was just kind of like good karaoke", while Ellen DeGeneres oddly added, "You're like the soup of the day...today I didn't like it."   Just like every week prior, the judges harped on song choice being everything.  Check out what all the contestants sang:

When Ryan Seacrest revealed the bottom three, fans worldwide knew regardless of the turnout things were not looking good.  Casey James, Aaron Kelly, and Tim Urban were all in the bottom, and this week, Teflon Tim was finally sent home.  As always, the smiling cutie from Texas took the news like a champ and held his composure as his fellow contestants rushed the stage to watch his farewell video with him.

As she lands her own reality show, Shania Twain is ready to climb back to the top and her first stop is Fox.  Musical all-star Shania Twain will be mentoring the Top 6 this week on American Idol (TV).  The group has been given a list of 50 pre-approved songs to make their own, including such hits as "Any Man of Mine", "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!", "From This Moment," and the classic "You're Still the One."
