Fallen Idol: Lilly Scott (American Idol Exit Interview)

Utter shock rocked the Kodak Theater when Lilly Scott was voted off during Week 3 of American Idol (TV).  The talented and original singer had received rave reviews from the judges and her rendition of Patsy Cline's "I Fall to Pieces" had the audience eating it up!  Check out what the judges had to say about Lilly's performance:

  • Kara DioGuardi:  "You kind of made Patsy Cline feel current."
  • Randy Jackson:  "I think you're in the zone right now."
  • Simon Cowell:  "It was cute, it was quirky, it plays into what you're all about."
  • Ellen DeGeneres:  "Love your voice and originality."

Sadly, in a shocking moment, Ryan Seacrest announced that Denver, Colorado native had become the latest fallen Idol.  During the weekly American Idol (TV) conference call with press, Lilly Scott opened up about her shocking dismal, the judge's reactions, and artists she plans to work with in the future.

Your elimination was definitely one of the biggest surprises last night.  What were your expectations, if I could get them from you?

The people that I thought were going to go home were completely different than the people that left last night, including myself.  It’s really strange.  It seems like people that are roommates have gone home on the same night.  And it’s really strange.  Katelyn and I were roommates and Todrick and Alex were roommates and Janelle and Ashley were roommates.  So, it’s this repetitive thing that’s becoming very strange, but then, again, that just might be a twist of fate and how it works out.  I don’t know.

Afterward, did the judges come up to you and offer any sort of consolation or nice words or did they tell you how sad that they were to see you go?

Randy definitely walked up to me and showed his sympathy.  He said that I definitely knew who I am and he was very upset to see me go.  And Kara came up to me as well saying that she thinks that maybe America thought that I already had the whole package and was already ready to go as an artist and so comfortable in my own skin that America maybe didn’t know what to do with me.

American Idol (TV) is really about finding that amateur artist that’s so vulnerable and then turning them into the huge pop star and I thought going into the competition with a lot of experience under my belt would be a good thing, but I guess it turned out to be a not so good thing.

Do you know if you were close in the voting.  Do they ever tell you that?

No, they don’t let us know any of that kind of stuff.  It’s actually really unfortunate because I’m one to think, you know, screw the establishment and blah, blah, blah, but I would love to know the statistics.  I don’t want to think that anything is rigged, but I would also like to know how many votes I really did have.

Are there any artists out there that you’d like to work with on an album?

You know, I would love to meet Tom York from Radiohead and people like Bjork, just really kind of like the King and Queen of the Indie world.  They’re really kind of who I strive to be like as an artist and their fan base is so huge and they are so respected as an artist, every album they put out.  I would love to collaborate with someone like them.

Closing Remarks.

That American Idol (TV) has been a great experience and that I really appreciated meeting everyone and it has been a wonderful stepping stone to everything awesome that I’m going to do with my career.
