American Idol Season 9 Week 2 Eliminations

Kara DioGuardi has the hots for Casey James (along with the rest of America), Simon Cowell has picked Crystal Bowersox as his early favorite, Randy Jackson is dawgs with the whole crew, and funny Ellen DeGeneres always keeps it light, like the joke she made to Alex Lambert last week, "There's such a great voice under that mullet."

Even though the judges have very strong input every week, it is your job as Americans to vote for your favorite.  Four more contestants were sent home last Thursday and throughout the week we will be bringing you sound clips about their American Idol (TV) journey.

Things are heating up on American Idol (TV) and last week we said goodbye to another four contestants who sang their hearts out on the Idol stage.  The new format for Season 9 has four contestants going home for three consecutive weeks, until the Top 12 are reached.  Many fans were sad to see early hopefuls leave so early especially when they performed so well and picked such great songs.

Over the past nine seasons, the judges have all agreed on one thing: song choice is everything.  Week 1, the judges wanted songs that related more to the audience and that's what the contestants gave them.  Haeley Vaughn took on "The Climb" by her idol, Miley Cyrus; Jermaine Sellers heated it up with the Marvin Gaye's classic "What's Going On;" Michelle Delamor took on the challenge of Creed's "With Arms Wide Open;" and John Park payed homage to bad boy John Mayer in the soulful rendition of "Gravity."

Even though Haeley, Jermaine, Michelle, and John sang their hearts out, their Idol journey came to a close on Thursday, when America voted them as the four to go.  It was sad to see such young talent leave, but these Idols still have plans to make it big -- and fast!  Haeley is looking to become the next Miley Cyrus, Jermaine wants to act, John will be heading back to Chicago, and Michelle is staying put in Los Angeles in order to follow her dreams.

We will be brining you interviews with the fallen Idols all week long starting on Tuesday and wrapping up on Friday in the series called Fallen Idols.  This format will be consistent all Idol season long; every time an Idol gets the boot, we will be waiting in the wings to talk about their most memorable Idol moments and their plans for the future.  You can see our previous articles on the subject by following the "Fallen Idols" tag below.  Happy Idol watching to all!
