Oprah Winfrey Announces End of An Era

The end of an era is upon us. Oprah Winfrey has announced she will not continue her daytime talk show after September, 2011. Oprah will have been on the air for 25 seasons when the curtains close. Oprah has been making audiences cry, laugh, and outright scream for so long she is lauded as the Queen of Daytime. Who can forget when Tom Cruise, her favorite guest ever, got so excited he jumped on the couch?

From Oprah we have been given countless advice that is timely and necessary. She helped launch Dr. Phil (TV) and his show. Oprah has helped to open a school in Africa and she helped many viewers over the years with all of her favorite things and various gifts that would make her viewers lives better.

Last week a report from Deadline Hollywood announced Oprah was going to be bringing her show to a close in order to focus on a cable network of her OWN, the Oprah Winfrey Network. Oprah will explain in greater detail her decision today. She has been on the air since 1986. Her show has been nominated every year for a Daytime Emmy from 1997 to 2009. In 1999, she received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Emmys.

Reaction to the news of her talk show coming to an end has already seen an outpouring of well wishers. Ellen DeGeneres talked about Oprah’s decision during her opening monologue. Ellen wished her well, claiming Oprah will always be the Queen of Daytime.

"I don't think I could be here without her. I think she has blazed a trail...she is an amazing woman. She will always be the queen of daytime television and she also said she is leaving me all of her money," Ellen told her audience. Martha Stewart predicted Oprah will do another show, saying she is evolving.
