Episode Preview: The Vampire Diaries: 1.10: "The Turning Point"

The Vampire Diaries (TV) is heating up the small screen. Vicki (Kayla Ewell) is no longer with us and Jeremy Gilbert (Steven R. McQueen) knows that she is gone and will miss her but knows that it is for the best. Jeremy miraculously turned into the young man he was on his way to being before the death of his parents. He is not doing drugs and staying out all night and best of all he is trying to complete his school work and catch up. There is a new history teacher who gives Jeremy an assignment of writing a local history paper to boost his grade.

Jeremy took his aunt’s advice and went through some old family boxes. He found a diary in the box and began reading through it. The hot new history teacher is also full of mystery and left many clues that he is a vampire himself. He talked long into the evening with Jenna, Jeremy’s aunt, and took her home. He waited on the threshold to be invited in and when Jenna (Sara Canning) chose not to he left without making a fuss. He also had a ring such as the ring the Salvatore brothers wear. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) revealed his true purpose for being in Mystic Falls.

Damon wanted to bring Katherine back. Fortunately, Bonnie (Katerina Graham) being a witch was haunted by an ancestor who was also a witch. The ancestor, Emily, was able to control Bonnie and to destroy the crystal amulet that would have allowed Damon to bring Katherine back. Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) were at odds with each other. Elena discovered that she is in love with Stefan and she felt able to handle him being a vampire and very much wanted to be with him, however Stefan felt he could not be with her. He walked away from her.

You now have the backstory; now prepare yourself for what awaits us all tonight...

Tomorrow night Stefan and Elena will come together, Elena will profess her love for him, and then make a discovery that will change everything. Their relationship will not be an easy kind of love and Stefan is possibly thinking of leaving altogether. While Elena and Stefan are at the school talking, Jenna interrupts to ask for a save from Logan. Stefan, confused by the presence of someone who is supposed to be dead, goes into the hallway to see Logan standing there talking to some girls.

The Sheriff asks Damon to help with the new vampire that they know is in town but cannot discover the identity of. While Damon is helping, he discovers some interesting facts about the town’s founding families, knowing Damon he will be able to use this information for his own gain. Damon has left Caroline (Candice Accola) alone and with an even lower self esteem than before. Caroline spent a night with Matt (Zach Roerig) and now, while they were not really friends before they are growing closer together.

The screen will be sizzling with Elena and Stefan. Will Damon help the townspeople get rid of the new vampire and become the town hero? Now that bringing Katherine back is no longer a possibility what will Damon's role be? How will Alaric, the new history teacher come into play? Will he be able to save Jenna from Logan?
