Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, Kara DioGuardi, and Simon Cowell sure had a lot of talent to judge last Tuesday night when Group 3 performed on the the Idol stage. The four judges were quick to compliment the contestants and were also quick to throw some criticism around. A few extra million American Idol fanatics tuned in this week to help vote the best of Group 3 into the Top 12, keeping in mind the judges opinions.
Two hours packed with rocking performances, it was up to America to decide who would be joining Alexis Grace, Michael Sarver, Danny Gokey, Kris Allen, Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, Lil Rounds, Jorge Nunez, and Scott MacIntyre. PopStar was able to chat with some of the Idol winners from Wednesday night's elimination round about song choices and the evolution of their performances.
What a great group of Idols we have so far this year; they are all so talented and passionate about making great music. Season seven is sure going to be hard to top but I think that these finalist might have a shot at it. PopStar was on a recent conference call with the excited Idol winner and just wait to you see what they had to say!
PopStar: Hello. How are you doing today?
L. Rounds: I’m doing good. How are you?
PopStar: Good. Can you kind of take us through the process of picking the song each week and, you know, how you ended up picking your song for this week?
L. Rounds: When it comes to song choice, you know you might hear Simon and them say a lot you know why did you pick this song or things like that. Me, personally, I have to go with songs that I can relate to, you know. I really don’t go with things that I feel you know this beat sounds cute or things like that. I have to go with the meaning of the song because you know I like to go out there and give my all.
PopStar: Hello. How are you doing today?
Jorge Nunez: I’m doing fine. How are you doing?
PopStar: Good. Can you talk about the evolution of your performances since Hollywood Week?
Jorge Nunez: Well, yes. That’s a good question. The first performance to me was my best during the whole week. I did John Secada’s “Angel” and to me it was the best performance. I got great comments from the judges. The group performance, however, didn’t went as great. We were a mess. We were horrible – not vocally at least, but choreography and the rest of the number was like you know a total mess. But luckily when I sang “Closer” for the third round I redeemed myself. The judges seemed to like it because I mean they put me through to the Top 36 and here I am now
PopStar: Alright, wonderful. Well good luck. Thank you very much.
Last night, we found out the fate of the Wild Card Idols as four advance to the Top 13! Jasmine Murray, Megan Joy Corkrey, Matt Giraud, and Anoop Desai were all voted in within the last minutes of Idol last night by our trusted American Idol judges. Fan favorite Anoop will go far with his sweet Southern charm but he will need to work on his vocals to impress the judges. Who do you think should make it to the Top 5 of American Idol this year? Is it still too soon to tell?
