The Bounty Hunter (2010) is a movie that we're hoping against hope will work. Jennifer Aniston is one of Hollywood's most popular and winsome actresses, but she's lately attached herself to too many turkeys. Gerard Butler, meanwhile, is one of Tinseltown's busiest actors, a guy's guy who can make almost anything work, but he's had a couple of duds recently as well. The Bounty Hunter pairs Aniston and Butler together for a would-be sexy, action-packed romantic comedy.
Set for release on March 19, The Bounty Hunter (2010) casts Aniston as Nicole, an investigative reporter at the Daily News in Manhattan. Nicole skips out on a court date and bail in order to follow a story for the newspaper, and a bounty hunter is dispatched to bring her in.
That bounty hunter? Well, that'd be Milo, who happens to be a former cop and also Nicole's former husband. Of course, the two of them despise each other. Really, they hate one another. They despise and hate each other so much, in fact, that they're perfect together. And that revelation probably occurs to them as they drive and bicker from New York City to Atlantic City and back again, with Nicole trying to do her job and Milo attempting to do his. Other characters include Nicole's randy mom (Christine Baranski) and a geeky guy (Jason Sudeikis) with a thing for Nicole.
Whether or not The Bounty Hunter (2010) ultimately clicks may depend in part on the Aniston-Butler chemistry -- and, remember, they supposedly/reportedly sparked off-screen during the shoot -- but the real deciding factor may be which Andy Tennant sat down in the director's chair this time. He's brought us such charming films as Ever After (1998) and Sweet Home Alabama (2002), as well as the suprisingly funny Hitch (2005), but also the less successful Fool's Gold (2008).
