Robert Pattinson plays the handsome and mysterious vampire. Taylor Lautner plays the aggressive, yet playful werewolf. And the striking Kristen Stewart plays the naive human caught in a dangerous world. Twilight author Stephenie Meyer did an incredible job of giving depth to these characters; she made them come alive on every page of her books. Her saga is a beautiful tale of heartache, redemption, and young love interwoven with werewolves and vampires. But the taboo subject that many dare not talk about is whether or not Meyer's religion positively or negatively impacts the saga.
It's no secret that the Twilight Saga was written by Mormon author Stephenie Meyer. In fact, before Meyer inked the deal with Summit to bring her books to the big screen, she had a few demands. Among the three rules, the most important to her religion was that the films were to be rated PG-13, not R, so that her friends and family could enjoy them. While reading the saga it is safe to assume and conclude that the climaxes of the saga left readers disenchanted. There were no passionate love romp sessions, no explosive bloody battles, and throughout the evilness of the story you always felt safe.

The Twilight Saga was so refreshing to read because for once the characters did not get bogged down by lust. Instead, they developed connections and sent a message to the youth saying it is okay to wait until you find the right person. In the Mormon religion, sex before marriage is strictly frowned upon and for many young adults dating isn't acceptable until you reach the age of sixteen. Meyer grew up in a Mormon home, attended Brigham Young University outside Salt Lake City, and currently practices Mormonism. Did her roots in her religion impact Edward and Bella in any way?

It was not surprising to hear that director Chris Weitz had to spice up some of the action scenes in New Moon to draw in more excitement. Meyer does an exceptional job at building up the story, however could it be possible that her religion won't let her climax the way that moviegoers are used to? Throughout the Twilight Saga, does it ever feel like something is missing? As you continue to flip through page after page, are you ever disappointed that there is no hot sex scene or bloody massacre? Or does the simplicity of Twilight comfort you?
