In today's issue of The Twilight Saga Daily Dosage, we tackle the issue of "smoking celebrities," take a look at the Vanity Fair shoot for the West Side Story, and can't help but find some humor in Ashley Green's reaction to a shirtless Taylor Lautner! The continuing story of The Twilight Saga: New Moon continues. So let's get right to it, shall we?
First off, let's be very clear about something: We all know that smoking is bad for your health, and I am in no way making an argument below that anyone should start smoking. As someone who smokes, I know just how addictive of a "habit" it is and I know the risks it causes to my health. As any smoker will tell you: it's better to never start smoking than it is to start and to then try and stop. So if you don't smoke, don't start! (And trust me, you're not an exception -- anyone who starts will become addicted!)
There has been a lot of buzz lately about many of the cast members of The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009) smoking. I suppose the dignified thing for any publication to do is to drag these actors through the mud and say things like: "Look at them puffing away at their cancer sticks." Personally, I find these attacks dispicable and hypocritical. For most of us, this isn't even "new news." They're on set again and thus there are more pictures to be shared with the judging millions!
Why do they report such news? Because it brings in traffic to their website, not because it's actually worthy of mentioning or because they care in any way, shape, or form about the actors' health. If they really felt it was something to report, then why do we not see daily reports on the smoking habits of other celebrities? It shouldn't come as a surprise that Hollywood and smoking go hand-in-hand.
We do not condone this type of reporting behavior and thus this will be the last you hear about it from us. And as far as some of the stars smoking, we offer no excuses, no apologies, no nothing. They are free to do as they please; and every individual is free to have an opinion on how they feel about their favorite stars smoking. Just remember one thing: judgment, either of the self or others, always leads to inner pain and outward discord.
Now that we have that ugliness out of the way, let's report something that actually has some merit, some interest, and some great fun! Jennifer Lopez is the quintessential triple threat: we all know she can dance, we all know she can sing, and without a doubt, she can act! With some great movies behind her such as "Shall We Dance?" and "Maid In Manhattan," J-Lo is a genuine idol of mine! I genuinely admire everything about her, and Robert Pattinson had the unique honor of dancing with her during the recreation of scenes from West Side Story.
With the Broadway return of the West Side Story, Vanity Fair paid homage to the classic through a photo series in their latest issue. Among the stars featured in the photo shoot include Chris Evans, Brittany Snow, Ashley Tisdale, Cam Gigandet, Drake Bell, Camilla Belle, Ben Barnes, and of course, Jennifer Lopez and Robert Pattinson. But that's not it; also included in this photo are Rodrigo Santoro, Minka Kelly, Jay Hernandez, Natalie Martinez, Brandon T. Jackson, Melonie Diaz, Sean Faris, Shane Lynch, and Trilby Glover. Not exactly. But she did see him shirtless, and from the quote she provided to In Touch, I'd say there was a certain "wow factor" as the event unfolded. She had this to say: "He looks like he's in 300! I was in the makeup trailer and I looked over as he was talking his shirt off and I said to him, 'You've got to be joking!'" That's just too funny for words! Get ready, girls. No doubt, Google searches for "Taylor Latuner shirtless" are going to be going through the roof as the cast continue filming New Moon!
