Emma Stone, who's fast becoming a hot property in Hollywood thanks to Superbad (2007) and Zombieland (2009), is reportedly this-close to signing on the dotted line for her next role. According to the industry trade paper Variety, she'll play Steve Carell's daughter in an upcoming big-screen comedy-drama that's so far untitled.
This much is known: Carell and Ryan Gosling are both already on board; Carell will be a father contending with a marriage crisis, and the characters played by Stone and Gosling would be romantically involved.
The film will be co-directed by John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, the tandem behind the camera on the upcoming Jim Carrey-Ewan McGregor-Leslie Mann comedy I Love You Phillip Morris (2010). And the script is by Dan Fogelman, whose credits include Cars (2006), Fred Claus (2007), and Bolt (2008).
Meanwhile, anyone who just can't wait to see Stone on screen with Carell and Gosling will have to make do with Easy A (2010), which opens on September 17 and casts her alongside Amanda Bynes, Cam Gigandet of Twilight (2008), Thomas Haden Church, Patricia Clarkson, Penn Badgley, and Alyson Michalka.
