From Twilight to rock night, two Hollywood starlets, Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning attended the premiere of their new film The Runaways (2010) in Los Angeles on Thursday night. The film centers around the 1970's groundbreakin all-girls rock band and its members Joan Jett, Cherie Currie, Lita Ford, Sandy West, and Jackie Fox. The coming of age biopic is based on Currie's book, Neon Angel, and focuses on the band's formation, and their historic and meteoric rise to fame.

In the film, Kristen Stewart portrays the dark-haired, brassy vocalist and rhythm guitarist Joan Jett, who also served as Executive Producer for the film. Dakota Fanning took on the role of Cherie Currie, author of the book that inspired the film, and keyboardist/vocalist for The Runaways.
The two actresses, who starred together in The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009) were more than happy to share the red carpet on Thursday evening. "This is so much fun," said Dakota. "It's crazy for a lot of people to finally see it. I mean, it was at Sundance, but it is just rewarding to be here."

Kristen took advantatge of a few photo ops with Joan Jett herself on the red carpet, whom she says she learned a lot from while working on the film. The most valuable lesson? Not taking herself too seriously. "I don't know how much I learned about myself, so much as my capacity to not care," she said. "She's really good at that, in a way that's compassionate. It's not that she doesn't care -- she just is who she is. And I know that's something most people aspire to be, but she really is."

Taylor Lautner, Michael Shannon, Scout Taylor-Compton, Cherie Currie, and many others escorted the girls into the theater to catch the film's debut. Taylor later accompanied his good friend Kristen Stewart to an after-party, where they hung out with the film's cast, and a couple of the legendary Runaways.
