Hollywood Reacts to the Untimely Death of Brittany Murphy

The world was saddened to learn that actress Brittany Murphy was pronounced dead upon arrival at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center due to cardiac arrest at the age of 32.  While many news outlets were disparaging and speculating about her demise, we offered only praise and condolences to her in our piece Brittany Murphy: Life Tribute (1977-2009), which paid honor to the late actress whose bright zest for life caught the attention of fans worldwide.  As many search for answers to justify this tragic death, friends, coworkers, and celebrity admirers of Murphy send out their condolences.

US Magazine spoke with Angelo Bertolotti, Brittany Murphy's father who stated, "She wasn't supposed to die like this."  Angelo Bertolotti only saw his daughter a few times a year and admitted to the press that they were not as close as they once were.  Still in shock from the news that his 32 year old daughter passed away at such a young age, the grieving father was at a loss for words.  "There is nothing I can say.  I can't believe this is happening.  She was a young 32.  She wasn't supposed to die like this."   An official statement from Brittany Murphy's family has not yet hit the wire but is expected soon.

The grieving process has begun in Hollywood as celebrity friends, admirers, and coworkers of the beloved Brittany Murphy send out tweets about their sadness.  Kathy Najimy who stars in King of the Hill (TV), talked about working with the actress for close to five years while other celebrity admirers just tweeted about her amazing work throughout the years.

Clueless (1995) co-star Alicia Silverstone told People: "I always felt connected to her as we shared a very special experience in our lives together.  I feel love in my heart for her -- and hope she is at peace.  This is truly sad.”  The actress, who admitted to losing touch with Murphy over the years, said she "loved working with [Murphy].  She was so talented, so warm, and so sweet."  Everyone was surprised by the news that broke Sunday but found some brief comfort on Twitter as friends and coworkers shared their heartfelt condolences.
