As Carrie gets older, she has curbed her reckless behavior and matured into a respectable, wise married woman. The days where she would chase down soldiers during Fleet Week are over and we are left with romantic candle lit dinners with her dream man instead. Sex and the City (TV) author Candice Bushnell has just announced plans for her new book, The Carrie Diaries: Meet Carrie before Sex and the City, due out late April -- which means fun, reckless Carrie is back and we are hoping she is naughtier than ever.
For years, we have watched four gals from Manhattan mature through bad relationships, grow closer together with each Cosmopolitan, and finally find happiness with their surroundings. We've prudishly watched Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) parade around her latest conquest. We've watched Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) experiment with a variety of men finally landing the perfect man, Mr. Big (Chris Noth).
We've watched Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) find a perfect balance between being partner at her law firm and mother/wife. We've seen Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) flounder around with Upper East siders before landing her unlikely husband. Since the HBO series first aired in 1998, the foursome have come a long way and they have done it together with a Cosmo in one hand and a man on the other.
Sex and the City 2 (2010) is currently filming in New York City and the plot line is picking up where the girls left off in Sex and the City (2008). Come 2010, the bittersweet moment for those four amazing characters will come to an end, however it might not be forever. News has been announced today that Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell will pen a new book for the franchise.
Get ready for the 80's to make the ultimate comeback when The Carrie Diaries hits bookshelves. In the new book, Bushnell will follow the life of a young Carrie Bradshaw throughout high school. Carrie will struggle with relationships with men, her relationship with her mother, and we will even get some details on how Carrie came to be an author. The Carrie Diaries will be published April 27, 2010 and until then we can only dream about if they make this a motion picture!
