Kendall Schmidt was discovered by eccentric record executive Stephen Glickman during an nationwide casting call. Not wanting to pursue a solo act, Schmidt returns to his hometown of Minneapolis. In a brilliant move, Schmidt and Glickman come to the agreement to bring Schmidt and his three friends; James Maslow, Logan Henderson, and Carlos Penn out to LA to pursue their music group. Leaving behind the snow of the Midwest, the four boys travel with Kendall's mom (Challen Chates) and his younger sister (Ciara Bravo) to the posh Palm Woods, a temporary housing community outside LA. Balancing their new lavish lifestyle and their commitment to become great is documented in the all new series Big Time Rush.
