
James Farentino, best known for his roles in The Final Countdown (1980), Dynasty, and for playing George Clooney's estranged father, Ray Ross, on ER, has died of heart failure at a Los Angeles hospital, The Associated Press reports. He was 73.
In 1967, the Brooklyn-born actor's performance in the comedy The Pad and How to Use It (1966) landed him a Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer. He also starred in Melrose Place and the miniseries Jesus Of Nazareth, for which he earned an Emmy nomination in 1978.
